Jose Mourinho And Pep Guardiola Renew Rivalry

Coaches Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola will renew their rivalry on Friday as Europa League champions Chelsea face Champions League winners Bayer n Munich in the Uefa Super Cup in Prague.
Guardiola's Barcelona and Mourinho's Real Madrid competed in some heated encounters for two seasons, but the new Bayern coach played down the rivalry.
"We're here for the players, not the coaches," said Guardiola.
"Millions of people around the world will watch the game, not the coaches."

Tottenham Cruised Through To The Europa League Group Stage

Jermain Defoe scored twice as Tottenham cruised through to the Europa League group stage after beating Dinamo Tbilisi in the play-off second leg.
Having beaten the Georgian side 5-0 last week, Spurs once again showed the gulf between the two sides.
Defoe scored his first after 40 minutes by firing in Lewis Holtby's diagonal pass and then converted Gylfi Sigurdsson's cross before half-time.
Holtby then smashed in his first Spurs goal from 25 yards after 69 minutes.
Spurs will join the likes of Valencia, Lyon, Lazio, Fiorentina, Swansea and Wigan in the Europa League draw, to be held in Monaco at 11:45 BST on Friday.

Champions League: Celtic Draw Barcelona, AC Milan And Ajax

Celtic face a huge task to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages after being drawn in the same group as Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax.
Manchester City take on holders Bayern Munich, CSKA Moscow and Viktoria Plzen.
Arsenal have a tricky start versus Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and Napoli while new Manchester United boss David Moyes is up against Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Sociedad.
Chelsea have an easier group of Schalke, FC Basel and Steaua Bucharest.

Brazil International Wants To Leave Real Madrid

Brazil international Kaka says he wants to leave Real Madrid before the transfer window closes.
The 31-year-old, who cost Real £56m, does not think he will get much playing time under new coach Carlo Ancelotti, his former manager at AC Milan.
The 2007 World Player of the Year is battling fellow playmakers Mesut Ozil, Isco and Luka Modric for a place.
"The club knows I want to leave and I would like them to help me find a solution for my exit," he said.

Franck Ribéry Wins UEFA 2012-13 Best Player In Europe Award

UEFA BEST PLAYER

Thursday, during the UEFA Champions League group stage draw, they announced the winner of the Franck Ribéry wins UEFA 2012-13 Best Player in Europe award. The nominees included Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery. The journalists attending the draw voted for the award live, not ahead of time.
“We are playing a very good team tomorrow evening. It is not about revenge,” Ribéry said before winning the award. ”We are looking forward to playing against a great side.”
Ribéry led his Bayern Munich squad to the Champions League title last season over Bundesliga rival Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.
Cristiano Ronaldo was unable to attend the event instead electing to play for Real Madrid in a fairly lopsided and easy contest against a low-level opponent. Last year’s winner was Andrés Iniesta of Barcelona.

2013 Final Champions League Groups

Chelsea will be pleased as they face teams they have beaten in Europe recently, while Manchester City could have done considerably worse. Though they face the champions Bayern, they should be able to beat CSKA Moscow and Viktoria Plzen. Should.

Manchester United, though, have a potentially tough draw - Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Sociedad are all very, very tricky.  But Arsenal have the toughest: Napoli (facing Higuain and Rafa Benitez),  Marseilles and last year's runners-up Dortmund?

Eto'o Signs For Chelsea

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Samuel Eto'o from Anzhi Makhachkala.
The 32-year-old has signed a one-year contract and on finalising the transfer he said: 'I am very happy to be here but also anxious because I want to get playing as soon as possible.
'It wasn't a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it.'
A prolific striker who has scored goals at the highest level throughout his career, Eto'o learned his trade in his native Cameroon before joining the Real Madrid youth academy in 1997. He then embarked on loan spells with Leganes, Espanyol and Real Mallorca.

Tyson, 47, admitted he is a continual substance abuser but added he is hopeful of finally getting clean.

US Open 2013: Andy Murray Beats Michael Llodra In Straight Sets

Defending champion Andy Murray reached the second round of the US Open with less than an hour of the third day remaining as he beat France's Michael Llodra in Wednesday's night session.
The Briton, 26, completed a 6-2 6-4 6-3 victory at 11.33pm local time in New York (04:33 BST), and moves on to face Argentina's Leonardo Mayer on Friday. The decision to schedule Murray among the late matches on day three had met with criticism, as it could leave him at a disadvantage compared to his leading rivals later in the tournament.

Usain Bolt: Rested And Ready For Zurich 100m In Diamond League

Usain Bolt says he is rested and ready to run another fast time when he takes on the likes of Britain's Adam Gemili over 100m at Thursday's Diamond League meeting in Zurich.
The Jamaican won triple gold at the World Championships earlier this month, clocking 9.77 seconds to win the 100m."I have got a lot of rest," said Bolt, who believes he can run below 9.80secs at the Letzigrund Stadium.

"This track is always a fast track and I've run some fast times here."
Bolt, who ran 19.66secs to win the 200m at the same meeting a year ago, will also face American Justin Gatlin and fellow Jamaican Nesta Carter on Friday. They won silver and bronze respectively at the World Championships in Moscow.

How Uefa's Seeding System Helps Arsenal & Hinders Celtic

Safely into the group stage of the Champions League for a 16th straight season, having outclassed Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday, for Arsenal the immediate crisis is over.
But are they really one of the best six sides in Europe, as Uefa's seeding system would have us believe?
You might question why a team that has not got beyond the last 16 of the Champions League in the past three seasons  or finished higher than third in their own domestic league since 2005 - the last year the Gunners won a trophy - are still ranked as one of the heavyweights and given a more favourable draw because of it.

Catalans Win Spanish Super Cup

Barcelona won a record 11th Spanish Super Cup on away goals as they drew 0-0 with Atletico Madrid after Lionel Messi's late penalty miss.
Having earned a 1-1 draw with Diego Simeone's side in the first leg, Barca were subdued and Messi out of sorts.
And they were indebted to goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who saved shots from Arda Turan and David Villa.
Atletico lost their discipline late on as Filipe Luis saw red before Pedro was tripped for Messi's spot-kick.

Samuel Eto'o: Chelsea To Sign Cameroon Striker From Anzhi

Chelsea are set to sign Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala on a free transfer. The 32-year-old will join the Premier League club on a one-year-deal.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho moved for Eto'o after seeing two bids rejected for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.
Earlier this week, it emerged Rooney was not prepared to force a move by handing in a formal transfer request, effectively ending the Blues's hopes of signing the England striker.

Lukas Podolski Out For Up To 10 Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Keshi Names Squad For Flames Test

Stephen Keshi

Head coach of the Nigeria national team, Stephen Keshi has called up 42 players ahead of September’s 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Malawi.
Eighteen of the players called up by Keshi are based abroad while 24 domestically-based players were also invited for the game which holds on September 7.
The 18 players based outside Nigeria will automatically make the final squad of 23 which is expected to be ratified in the coming days.
Explaining the rationale behind the bloated nature of the squad, Keshi said the decision was informed by the need to “identify new players for the 2014 African Nations Championship (Chan)

Malawi Must Play In Calabar - Fifa

FIFA has dismissed the petition by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to move the September 7 match with Nigeria from Calabar to somewhere ‘safer’.
A muted FAM chief executive officer, Suzgo Nyirenda, has confirmed that The Flames have no other option but to travel to Calabar for the much anticipated World Cup qualifying cracker.
"It is not like we said we do not want to travel to Nigeria. We are just waiting for the Nigeria Football Federation to provide us the guarantee. Once they do that, we will travel to Nigeria" he was quote by the Nation in Malawi.
Despite the back tracking such a guarantee is bound not to come as the NFF has said it deems it superfluous since nobody can tell Nigeria where to play in Nigeria but Nigeria.
Coach Tom Saintfiet, who personally called Calabar unsafe and questioned the fairness of the NFF must now look elsewhere to see if he can create any other type of advantage for his team before game time rolls around.
Nigeria meanwhile have an awesome record in Calabar haven only been beaten there once and it was in the 40’s on a Royal navy ship.

Ten Reasons To Expect An Explosive EPL

This is gearing up to be the most exciting and defining season of the English Premier League in a long time.
That players are in constant movement in and out of the Premier League clubs is nothing new but rarely has there been so much movement in the management of the clubs like there was this summer.
All three top teams in England (Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea) have presented new managerial faces to the world.
Here are my ten reasons why you should expect a rollercoaster of excitement in the nine months the 2013/2014 season has in store.

WWE Champion Randy Orton Vs. Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan was dealt a cruel hand at SummerSlam, but at Night of Champions, the WWE Universe’s favorite “Yes!” Man has an opportunity to reclaim the championship gold that many believe was unfairly ripped from him when he faces WWE Champion Randy Orton.

By invoking his rematch clause, “The Beard” again has a chance to usher in a new era of WWE main eventer and prove he is much more than a “solid B-plus,” as Stephanie McMahon suggests. Yet to complete the transition, he’ll have to conquer WWE’s Apex Predator, who — as the world found out at The Biggest Party of the Summer — has very powerful advocates in the form of the McMahon family and Triple H.

Bryan Embarrassed Orton; WWE Championship Rematch Made

Just five days after The Biggest Party of the Summer, Daniel Bryan set his sights on WWE Champion Randy Orton before stepping into a steel cage against The Barrett Barrage; Big Show & Mark Henry rocked 3MB and World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio battled Christian in a rematch of their SummerSlam classic.
The new WWE Champion, Randy Orton, opened SmackDown by justifying cashing in his Money in the Bank contract at SummerSlam. The Viper claimed he didn’t know Triple H was going to Pedigree Bryan – but that he just couldn’t pass up an opportunity literally lying in front of him

Rugby Championship: New Zealand Beat Australia Again

New Zealand retained the Bledisloe Cup and maintained their 100% start to the Rugby Championship with a second consecutive victory over Australia.
Two more tries from Ben Smith, who scored a hat-trick last week, saw the All Blacks take a 15-6 half-time lead.
Australia had led 6-0 after a strong start, and Christian Leali'ifano's third penalty cut the gap to 18-9.
But debutant Tom Taylor's three second-half penalties put the hosts 24-9 clear before Israel Folau's late try.

Adam Scott Wins PGA Tour's Barclays Event Nn New Jersey

Masters champion Adam Scott won The Barclays by one stroke in the first event of the FedExCup play-offs.
Australia's Masters champion fired a five-under 66 to edge Tiger Woods, US Open champion Justin Rose, Gary Woodland and Graham DeLaet in New Jersey.
Scott finished an hour before the final group but watched as Woods's birdie putt fell inches short on 18, after Rose had three-putted the final green.
Overnight co-leader Woodland carded two-over 73, while DeLaet took 65.
"I'm pretty shocked," said the 33-year-old Scott, who climbs to a career-high second in the world rankings.
"There were so many guys out there with a chance and I really didn't think I had much of a chance. If you hang around the lead long enough, you're going to win some, you're going to lose some."

Laura Robson & Dan Evans Set For Day One

Laura Robson and Dan Evans will carry British hopes on the opening day of the US Open at Flushing Meadows on Monday.
Robson, 19, is the 30th seed and takes on Spain's Lourdes Dominguez Lino on Court 17 at 16:00 BST.
Evans, 23, will begin at the same time against 11th seed Kei Nishikori of Japan on Court 13.
British number one and defending champion Andy Murray expects to play his opening match on Wednesday, with Heather Watson scheduled for Tuesday.
Left-hander Robson arrived in New York having played just two matches since Wimbledon because of an injury to her right wrist, and only began playing points on Wednesday.
"I'm pretty happy with how my rehab's gone and it's still going to be taped, but I'm hoping that it will turn out all right," said the teenager.

Lewis Hamilton Will 'Keep Pushing' Sebastian Vettel For F1 Title

Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton admits it will be "very tough" to beat Sebastian Vettel to the world drivers' title but insists he is "going to keep pushing".
The Mercedes driver is 58 points behind Vettel with a maximum of 200 available after the Red Bull driver's dominant victory in Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix.
"It's a big, big gap. It's a huge gap," said Hamilton, who finished third at Spa behind Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.
Hamilton admitted it was "difficult" to see Vettel in such a strong position.

Rafael Benitez Wins First Game As Napoli Manager

Rafael Benitez enjoyed a winning start to his career as Napoli boss as they secured an emphatic 3-0 victory over Bologna on the opening weekend.
The Spaniard took charge of last season's Serie A runners-up in May, after his spell as Chelsea interim manager ended.
Napoli were dominant from the outset and opened the scoring when Jose Callejon tapped in a rebound.
Marek Hamsik made it 2-0 from close range, before rifling in a third.

Like Benitez, on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina was making his competitive debut, but he found himself untroubled throughout.
Instead, almost all the chances were created by Napoli, their first coming early on when Callejon hit the woodwork.
But the former Real Madrid forward did not have to wait much longer to mark his debut with a goal. Hamsik's stinging drive was palmed into the path of Callejon by Bolgona keeper Gianluca Curci and he put the loose ball into the net.

Moyes Relishes Mourinho Test

David Moyes is relishing the challenge of facing Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in his first home Premier League match as Manchester United manager.
The Blues have won both of their first two games and would go six points clear of United if they win on Monday night.
"There is lots I've been looking forward to: taking the team on tour, leading them at Wembley," Moyes said.
"But to do it [lead the team out] at Old Trafford for the first game against Chelsea is a thrill, it really is."
Moyes, who left Everton for United in the summer, oversaw an emphatic 4-1 victory over Swansea in his opening game in charge, while Mourinho has started his second stint at Stamford Bridge with home wins over Hull City and Aston Villa.

Manchester City Loss Down To Poor Defending

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini blamed an inability to defend two corners for the shock 3-2 loss against Premier League newcomers Cardiff City.
The Welsh side trailed to Edin Dzeko's long-range strike after the break.
But Aron Gunnarsson equalised and two Fraizer Campbell headers secured a thrilling victory for the hosts. The worst thing is that we got ahead. After we scored I thought it would be easier but two corners decided the game," Pellegrini said.
"It was a pity. I did not expect to lose. We didn't play well but they played with 10 players near their box so it was very difficult to score."

Rafael Nadal Is The The Man To Beat - Novak Djokovic

Rafael Nadal

Novak Djokovic

Rafael Nadal's scintillating form has made him the man to beat at the US Open, according to Novak Djokovic.
The Spaniard has a 15-0 record on hard courts in 2013, having won Masters titles on the surface in Indian Wells, Montreal and Cincinnati.
His success is all the more remarkable as he only returned from a seven-month injury lay-off in February.
"Nadal is definitely back and playing maybe the best tennis that he ever has played on hard courts," said Djokovic.
The world number one added: "He's definitely so far the best player this year. There is no question about it. The results are showing everything."
Defending champion Andy Murray admitted Nadal will be "very difficult to beat" in New York.
Murray, who expects to play his opening match against Michael Llodra on Wednesday, has been hugely impressed by the 12-time Grand Slam champion's form.

How Tottenham Can Thrive Without Madrid-Bound Star

Gareth Bale - perhaps in the eyes of those looking to downgrade the efforts of Tottenham Hotspur - spent last season doing the work of several men.
And as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy concludes his latest round of hardball negotiating on the world-record deal to take the 24-year-old to Real Madrid, events appear to give weight to the unflattering theory.
The impending departure of Bale will leave a hole that cannot be filled with a simple like-for-like replacement so Levy, manager Andre Villas-Boas and supremely well-connected director of football Franco Baldini have embarked on a lavish refit of the Spurs team, armed with the money handed over from the Bernabeu.
Of course Bale will be missed by Spurs. It is ludicrous to suggest otherwise - but if the transfer plans put in place by those at the top inside White Hart Lane work out, this summer may yet be seen as a masterpiece of strategy and expectation management.

Man Utd Boss David Moyes Says Wayne Rooney Could Face Chelsea

Manchester United boss David Moyes has revealed Wayne Rooney could start Monday's Premier League match against Chelsea despite the Blues' attempts to sign the striker.
Rooney, 27, played the final half hour of a 4-1 win at Swansea last weekend after suffering from a shoulder injury.
But he has been the subject of two transfer bids from Chelsea, who are set to make a third after Monday's game.
"Wayne has recovered and has a good chance of starting," Moyes said.
Rooney, who played under Moyes at Everton, is understood to be keen on a move away from Old Trafford, but the Scottish manager has always insisted the forward is not for sale.
Former Everton boss Moyes also said on Friday that he "needs" to make new signings but is not under pressure to recruit before the transfer window shuts on 2 September.
Moyes has yet to make a major signing and has failed with offers for Barcelona's Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas, as well as Everton players Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini.

Chelsea Set To Sign Tottenham Target For £30m

Chelsea have agreed a £30m deal to sign attacking midfielder Willian from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, subject to a work permit hearing.
The 25-year-old Brazilian was close to joining Tottenham after having a medical on Wednesday.
But it is understood Chelsea made their move at around 18:00 BST on Thursday, with a fee and personal terms agreed within 24 hours.
Willian will have a medical before his work permit hearing next week.
The transfer was made possible after Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, whose fellow Russian oligarch Suleyman Kerimov owns Anzhi, intervened.
Willian expected to join Tottenham, but when the Blues stepped in, he felt the chance to play Champions League football was too good to reject.
Sources close to the player said Chelsea have made enquiries or offers for his services in every transfer window since 2011.
Willian will become the Stamford Bridge club's third major summer acquisition following the arrivals of Germany forward Andre Schurrle and Netherlands midfielder Marco van Ginkel.
Earlier on Friday, Blues manager Jose Mourinho indicated that Willian would choose Chelsea over Tottenham.
When asked whether the Brazilian had chosen to join his club, Mourinho nodded.
The Portuguese added: "I know what the player wants, so in this moment we cannot hide."
Willian joined Anzhi in January for a reported £30m after five-and-a-half seasons with Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. But he became available as the Russian club attempt to cut costs after a change in strategy by their owner.
Tottenham had expected to break their transfer record and make Willian their fifth major summer signing.
"I couldn't say much in previous news conferences," Mourinho said.
"I have to answer your questions and try to be honest, but at the same time try to hide a few things.
"I'm happy with my squad, but every one of us managers, we say we are happy, but we are always unhappy.
"We always want something of more quality and we never close the door to the possibility of adding more quality."
Willian's arrival would further strengthen a squad full of attack-minded midfielders, such as Eden Hazard, Oscar, Kevin De Bruyne and Schurrle.
But one playmaker Mourinho insisted would be going nowhere is Juan Mata. Reports in Friday's newspapers said the Spain midfielder, 25, could be offered to Manchester United as part of a bid to sign striker Wayne Rooney.
"No, [it is] speculation. He's a player we all like, he's a player we all want to keep and we want more quality in the team, we don't want less quality," he said.
"We want to add quality. Juan is not a player we want to lose."
Mourinho suggested earlier this week that Chelsea would make a fresh bid for striker Rooney, 27, after their match with Manchester United on Monday.
Asked on Friday how he rated his chances of signing Rooney, Mourinho said: "I don't care. In this moment I don't care. I have a big match to play on Monday."

Real Madrid Give Spurs Two Bid Options For Winger

Real Madrid have made two different offers for Wales winger Gareth Bale and are waiting to see if Tottenham Hotspur will accept either one.
The first offer is 100m euros (£86m) with structured payments over three to four years, which would surpass the world record fee Real paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo (£80m).
The other is an up-front, one-off payment which will be closer to £70m.
A player could also be thrown in as a makeweight in the second deal.
And if that happened it would also make that deal more valuable than the one Real paid United for Portugal winger Ronaldo in 2009.
Wales international Bale, 24, is determined to join the Spanish club, who have been in advanced talks with Spurs for several weeks.
If there is no announcement on Saturday it is unlikely there will be one until Tuesday because of the away match Real are playing on Monday night against Granada in the Spanish top flight, La Liga.
The plan remains to unveil Bale in the middle of next week, but this now depends on Spurs.
Bale, who joined Spurs in a £10m deal from Southampton in 2007, was named as the player of the year by both the Professional Footballers' Association and Football Writers last season after scoring 26 goals for the White Hart Lane side.
Madrid have already spent in excess of £50m this summer, bringing in Spanish midfielders Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad and Malaga's Isco for £34m and £23m respectively.

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger and Ricardo Gonzalez of Argentina shared the lead after the first round of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
The pair carded seven-under 65s, with Englishmen Mark Foster and Oliver and Ross Fisher in a group on six under.
Chris Doak, Richie Ramsay and Craig Lee are the highest-placed Scots on three under, while last year's winner Paul Lawrie is one shot further behind.
"I like playing in colder conditions, it suits me," said Wiesberger.
Paul McGinley, who will captain Europe at next year's Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, finished his first round on four under along with fellow Irishman Shane Lowry

US Open 2013: Qualifying Wins For Baltacha, Evans And Ward

Dans Evans

Elena Baltacha

James Ward

British trio Elena Baltacha, Dan Evans and James Ward are just one match away from reaching the US Open after winning their second round qualifiers.
On a day where play in New York was delayed because of thunderstorms, Baltacha beat Olga Savchuk of Ukraine 6-3 6-0.
Evans beat Flavio Cipolla of Italy 7-5 1-6 6-3 while Ward defeated Germany's Mathias Bachinger 2-6 6-4 6-4.
But Sam Murray lost out 6-4 7-5 to American Taylor Townsend.
Baltacha, the world number 244, was on court for just 69 minutes in a match interrupted for four hours because of the weather.
The 30-year-old is bidding to reach her third US Open, after reaching the second round in both 2010  and 2011, and will face world number 118 Michelle Larcher de Brito, who beat Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon, in her final qualifier.
Evans, who is aiming to reach the main draw for the first time, will face Spain's Adrian Menendez-Maceiras, ranked 15 places below him at 184.
Ward, ranked 175th, had comfortably lost to his higher-ranked German opponent in both their previous meetings and was outplayed in the first set.

Andy Murray's US Open Defence Starts Against Michael Llodra

Andy Murray
Murray, who is seeded third for the tournament at Flushing Meadows in New York, is in the same half of the draw as world number one Novak Djokovic.
Llodra, 33, is ranked 49th in the world and has been beaten by the 26-year-old Scot in all three previous meetings.
British women's number one Laura Robson, 19, is paired with 32-year-old Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain.
Murray last faced left-hander Llodra, a serve-volleyer, at the 2012 Australian Open, when he eased to a straight-sets victory in the last 32.
Micheal Llodra

Andy Murray

The Scot, who beat Djokovic in the final of the 2012 US Open and at Wimbledon earlier this summer, would meet the 26-year-old Serb in the semi-finals.
A potential last-eight opponent could be Czech Tomas Berdych, who beat Murray in the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open last week.

West Brom Striker Could Quit Following Death Of Agent

Nicolas Anelka has told West Brom he could retire following the death of his agent, but manager Steve Clarke hopes the striker will return to action.
The summer signing will sit out Saturday's game at Everton after being given compassionate leave.
When asked if the 34-year-old said he planned to quit, Clarke said: "I'm not going to deny that he used that word.
"But we've given him time to go away and think about it. I don't think we could do more in the circumstances."
Following the news that Eric Manasse had died, the much-traveled Anelka said on his Facebook page:  "I cannot find the words to express my sadness."
Clarke revealed the 69-times capped France international left training on Thursday after conversations with himself and technical director Richard Garlick.
"Nicolas went to Richard on Thursday and indicated that he wasn't in a good place," the Scot said.
"I went in and had a very brief chat with him, and he wasn't in a good place. So the club have decided just to give him a bit of time to go away and think about it and get himself in a better place for the future.
"That is as much as there is to tell on the situation. It wasn't dramatic, there was no big bust-up, he didn't storm out of the training ground. It is just a boy who is really quite upset."
